Do you know the 1.2316 chemical composition and hardness?

(1) Characteristics of 1.2316 die steel

The steel is a pre-hardened stainless mirror mold steel, which adopts the leading mold steel refining technology, and has the following excellent characteristics, excellent corrosion resistance; excellent mirror polishing; excellent hardening performance; excellent machinability; hardness evenly distributed. Therefore, the maintenance cost and production cost of the mold can be reduced, enabling customers to obtain high-quality injection molded parts while achieving the best economic benefits.


(2) Supply status and hardness of 1.2316 round steel
Quenched and tempered pre-hardened, hardness 28~32HRC.
(3) Typical chemical composition (mass fraction, %)
C0.38, Cr 16.0, Mn 0.50, Si<1.00,
Mo 1.00, Ni<1.00.
(4) 1.2316 corresponds to the steel grade of each country
German DIN standard steel No. X36CrMo17, American AISI/SAE standard steel No. 420 MODIFIED, Swedish ASSAB standard steel No. RAMAX2, Japanese JIS standard steel No. SUS420J2, German Buderus standard steel No. 12316ESR.
(5) 1.2316 sheet soft annealing specification
Heated to 740~800°C under protection, then cooled to 550°C at a rate of 15°C/h in the furnace, and then placed in air to cool.


(6) Stress relief specification
After rough machining, it must be heated to a maximum of 530°C, held for 2 hours, and then cooled in air.
(7) Specifications for quenching and tempering
The first preheating is 540~650°C, the second preheating is 840~870°C, the quenching temperature is 1020~1050°C, usually 1030°C, the quenching medium is oil cooling or salt bath 250~550°C, and then blown to cool, or Cooling under foot pressure in a vacuum furnace. Refer to the tempering curve to select the tempering temperature and hardness, tempering twice, and the tempering temperature is ≥180°C.
(8) Physical properties
The following are in the pre-hardened state: temperature 20°C, density 7800g/cm, elastic modulus 215000MP
The temperature is 200°C, the linear (expansion) coefficient (from 20°C) is 110.0x10-6°C, the thermal conductivity is 25W/(m·°C), and the elastic modulus is 205000MPa.
(9) Mechanical properties
The test temperature is 20°C, the tensile strength is 1120MPa, the yield strength is 980MPa, the reduction of area is 47%, and the elongation is 12.0%.
The test temperature is 200°C, the tensile strength is 1010MPa, the yield strength is 910MPa, the reduction of area is 48%, and the elongation is 10.5%.


(10) Typical application examples
① PVC, acetate and other corrosive plastic molding dies.
②Plastic molds that need to work in a humid environment.
③ Blow molding, structural parts, etc.
